Plain language, no Bureau voice

Everything on this site that looks like a government record is a fictional document. This page exists because some of them look convincing, which is the point, and because looking convincing carries obligations.

What is fictional

  1. Every case and docket number, including every HAEB identifier.
  2. Every form, form number, and revision.
  3. Every directive, standard, and manual.
  4. Every advisory and its reporting deadlines.
  5. Every metric, percentage, count, and dashboard figure.
  6. Every Inspector General report, audit, and budget line.
  7. Every news release, statement, and correction.
  8. Every archive collection, accession, finding aid, and withholding authority.
  9. Every receipt, certificate, and control number the site generates.
  10. Every member of staff.

None of it creates a right, a duty, a deadline, or a record. There is no filing obligation. There is nothing to comply with.

Redactions

The black bars on this site are decorative in the sense that nothing is hidden under them, and meaningful in the sense that every one of them is registered. Each bar links to its entry in the redaction log, where the invented withholding authority is cited. Nothing is recoverable by hovering, clicking, selecting, or inspecting the page, because there is nothing behind the bar to recover.

Sharing and printing

Artifact pages are built to make sense on their own and to print cleanly, because a document nobody can share is not much of a document. Two limits follow from that:

  1. No artifact is written or styled to function as an emergency alert, a public safety warning, a health notice, or a legal demand. If a fragment reaching you appears to be one of those, it did not come from this site.
  2. No page invites you to present it to anyone as genuine. The footer disclosure appears on every page, including printed and shared views.

Quoting and reusing

You are welcome to quote, screenshot, and link anything here. If you reproduce an artifact somewhere it could be mistaken for a real government publication, please carry the attribution with it.

If you are citing the real history rather than the Bureau’s treatment of it, cite the underlying source in the artifact’s source note, not this site. We are not a historical source and should not be used as one.

Search results are content too

Certain searches on this site return authored results rather than matches. Those results are written artifacts, not system messages, and they are fictional in the same way everything else is.
